Our moonstone jewelry is made with natural gemstones with flashes of blue color. Moonstone has a unique crystal structure of alternating layers of albite and orthoclase inclusions that create an optical phenomena called "adularescence". This causes a blue sheen of color as the light enters the stone and bounces back. Some moonstones will display tiny dots of rainbow colors when turned in the light.
Moonstone is an untreated gemstone in the feldspar family of minerals. Stones can be found in many places around the world, with the most popular deposits in India and Sri Lanka.
